It's the Season to be Jolly, as was had by eighty-two society members and guest on Thursday night December 15, 2011, at the Vero Beach Elk's Lodge, for the Vero Beach Orchid Society Annual Christmas Party.

The event began with a cocktail hour from 6PM to 7pm, with dinner being served at 7PM. This year's dinner was catered by "Catering by Culinary Capers" of Vero Beach, which was by far one of the best meals I can remember. 

After dinner, out going President Bobby Thomas recognized guests Louise & John Odom, from Odom's Orchids.  Bobby then honored John Odom with  Life Membership into the Vero Beach Orchid Society for his being one of the original five people in August 1974, in forming the Vero Beach Orchid Society, and along with his many years of continuing to the dedication of promoting  interest in the propagation, growth, scientific studies, and to generating community interest in orchids.
    

John Odom joins the group of Vero Beach Orchid Society Honory Life Members, Bud Ingersoll, Dominic Lettiere, Pat Mills, Ruth Saracco,  Bob Von Stein, Judy Wagner, Barbara & Fred Weinkauff, and Donald Whittaker. 

After the presentation to John Odom came the time that all members in attendence were waiting for, the orchid plant that members  in  attendence would receive as a gift from the Orchid Society.
